Well, if it is not totally apparent, I have moved (again) and finally consolidated my writing to my own domain, zeruch.net.
It is not just music, but for those that liked what I wrote about before, you can always filter by section.
I picked this because I recently was listening to some Gavin Harrison instructional material on subdividing beats, and because their latest album,
, is fast becoming my favorite Porcupine Tree album.
This time with the staggeringly obvious -- she steals songs. She is really starting to epitomize the kind of shameless marketing of "counterculture" as consumer-friendly drivel.
So, while the author does not really push the fact that Angelo Moore tends towards hyperbole and outright fantasy, I do love the idea of a Fishbone, Living Colour, Bad Brains triple bill.
Like he says...help make it happen.
And now, one album each:
he song is great, the video is enjoyably cringe-worthy. Its so low-budget, one wonders if even the set and wardrobe designers of Sylvester McCoy-era Dr. Who don't get a laugh.

2002 Palmetto
I picked this up from a cutout bin for 4.95, and rarely listened to it for a long while. Tonight though, it is a very good listen indeed. I think I finally understand why people dig Bill Stewart's drumming, and Adam Rogers has not sounded this good since his days with Lost Tribe. Ravi Coltrane continues tio impress me, and he does a solid job falling into the mix here. Colley himself has a very dry but full sound, and he does the task of anchorman and leader with an eye towards building a cohesive sound.
This is a tidy, tasty, collection of good tracks (his originals are decent, and his covers of cuts by Miles and Ornette are admirable). It's not groundbreaking, but it is inherently listenable without lacking bite.
He has yet to emit a note that is better than the equivalent to the love child of a spent Bowie and moribund Alice Cooper, fresh out of a failed bout at Betty Ford and punch drunk from a beating in a Vegas back alley by over the hill chorus girls.
A music blog in Poland largely interested with the music scene in Portugal. I have nothing to say beyond the fact that it is interesting, and so I take a small bow...
Here are three Portuguese artists worth hearing:
Kosheen really caught my attention with their debut; both Suicide and Hide U were stellar singles. But their follow-up, Kokopelli, never quite struck the right chord with me. Their third full-length, Damage, finds a cozy middle space and is growing on me. The lead-off track, Overkill, also is the Video of The Day.
Sage Francis
Sickly Business
While Sage Francis has a considerably better flow than Aesop Rock (and certainly riffs off the roof of anyone on regular radio rotation) but some of the tracks on Sickly Business are lyrically contrived, and suffer from the same kind of pretentious left wing tirades that made Zach DeLa Rocha annoying in RATM. The Masters Are Back is a prime example. Alternatives to College is a close second.
He rises out of that mire on slick quick cuts like Garden Gnomes with Danger Mouse and Tree of Knowledge grooves its deep ostinato bass figure and dirty high hat, and the broken jazz slackout of Doomage (produced by MFDoom...who'dathunkit). Sandpaper Gloves has an organic alterna-funk on a Herbie Mann musical backdrop, which works for reasons I can neither explain nor describe fully. It kind of reminds me of early Divine Styler.
There is some real boredom here. There is also some very sharp material. Overall, jury is still out.
